A TAKEOVER bid threatens the Primrose Line heritage railway. Some locals are against the proposal, including volunteer BILLY BOSWELL and butcher SAM HERRIDGE. Sam has two sons. One works in the family business; the other, a bad lot, has been seen around lately.
To make things worse, the Primrose Line is being targeted by vandals and thieves. NICOLA RENTON’S son, DAVID, wants her to move to Canada with him, but she is torn. After meeting her childhood love, JIM CONNAUGHT, it’s clear there is still a spark between them.
Ex-policeman Jim has been left a cottage in the village by his old teacher, MISS GURDON, though he doesn’t know why.
Should he do it up and sell it, then move to Switzerland to be with his family, or stay here where he was happy before his family left?
Jim’s daughter, LAURA, brings children EMILE and ADRIENNE to visit him while he does up the cottage and garden with Nicola’s help. Laura has had to leave husband MARTIN behind to run their Swiss hotel, but while in the UK still plans to visit an old boyfriend, SEAN BARRY, in Kent, much to Jim’s chagrin . . .
