MICHAEL Joseph Jack­son was born on Au­gust 29, 1958, one of 10 chil­dren.

He and four of his broth­ers found fame in the 1970s as The Jack­son Five, with hits such as ABC and I Want You Back.

He made his solo break with 1979 al­bum Off The Wall and in 1982, re­leased the biggest-sell­ing al­bum of all time, Thriller, which sold 110 mil­lion copies world­wide.

Michael Jack­son pop­u­larised dance moves such as the robot and the moon­walk.

In March 2006, his play­ground-style man­sion the Nev­er­land Ranch was closed be­cause of Jack­son’s fi­nan­cial prob­lems.

His health de­te­ri­o­rated and he had is­sues with pre­scrip­tion drugs.

On June 25, 2009 while re­hears­ing for what was set to be the great­est come­back in the his­tory of pop mu­sic, he died of a car­diac ar­rest.
