THE coun­cil’s Site Al­lo­ca­tions Doc­u­ments iden­tify pre­ferred sites for devel­op­ment in Peter­bor­ough af­ter stud­ies and con­sul­ta­tions be­tween 200 and 2009.

It sets out pro­pos­als for 24,840 new homes, 14 per­ma­nent trav­eller pitches and 10 tran­sit pitches.

It in­cludes the mas­sive ur­ban ex­ten­sion at Great Had­don, south of Hampton, ear­marked for 5,300 new homes and a district shop­ping cen­tre.

An­other site at Nor­wood, east of Pas­ton, is ear­marked for 2,300 new homes.

Con­tro­ver­sial site al­lo­ca­tions in the doc­u­ment in­cludes space for 305 homes near Eye.

Some sites in the doc­u­ment have al­ready been com­mit­ted for devel­op­ment, in­clud­ing 3,563 homes

in Hampton, 1,212 in Pas­ton Re­serve and 1,525 in Stan­ground South.
