Rain fails to dampen day

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Uk&world Update -

RAINY weather marked the last open day of the year at the Deanery Gardens in the grounds of Peterborough Cathedral.

It put off a few visitors, but the clouds failed to dampen the day for those who did attend the event on Saturday.

Refreshments, cakes and children’s games were on offer and greenfingered visitors walked around to admire the flora and fauna in the grounds.

The gardens are not normally open to the public, but people are admitted on select days during the spring.

Canon Richard Cattle said after three successful events, he was hoping the season would finish on a high note.

He said: “It was quite wet but those who did make it enjoyed a tremendously good time.

“It is great experience for people to see a part of the city that is not generally seen.

“Of the four events we’ve held so far this summer, two of them had really fantastic weather, so it was a great shame that this weekend was a pretty wet one.”
