Break­fast brief­ing for lo­cal busi­nesses

TWO of the city’s lead­ing pro­fes­sional firms joined to­gether to present a break­fast brief­ing to lo­cal busi­ness peo­ple.

He­garty LLP So­lic­i­tors and Rawl­in­sons Char­tered Ac­coun­tants, both based in Peter­bor­ough, hosted the sem­i­nar which was at­tended by about 100 peo­ple.

The brief­ing cov­ered em­ploy­ment law leg­is­la­tion out­lin­ing some of the most re­cent changes that af­fect busi­nesses, a top­i­cal tax update and al­ter­na­tive dis­pute res­o­lu­tion.

The speak­ers were Tim Thomp­son and An­drew Hornsby from He­garty LLP So­lic­i­tors and Ken Craig from Rawl­in­sons Char­tered Ac­coun­tants.

Tax part­ner Ken said: “Our au­di­ence ranges from rep­re­sen­ta­tives of multi-na­tional plcs to lo­cal sole traders, so we try to pro­vide a range of talks that are top­i­cal and rel­e­vant to those who at­tend. I spoke about the first Bud­get of 2010 with em­pha­sis on the changes af­fect­ing tax re­lief for pen­sion con­tri­bu­tions, em­ploy­ees and busi­ness own­ers and pre­dic­tions of the Bud­get on June 22.”

Tim Thomp­son, em­ploy­ment part­ner at He­garty LLP So­lic­i­tors, said: “We are de­lighted by the suc­cess of the sem­i­nar and the pos­i­tive feed­back we have re­ceived. We look for­ward to re­peat­ing the sem­i­nar next year.”
