Catering students whip up tasty profit for charity
STUDENTS at Peterborough Regional College have been cooking up some culinary delights in aid of charity.
The college’s Parcs Restaurant kitchens hotted up as hospitality and catering students joined Kevin Wood, head chef at the Orton Hall Hotel, and Richard Barry, from Milton Golf Club, to produce a variety of delicious dishes for members of the public.
The event was the idea of the catering students, who decided they wanted to raise cash for good causes.
They chose two charities, Help for Heroes and Sue Ryder Care, to benefit from the event.
A grand total of £802.34 was donated from the night, held last month.
Each course on the students’ menu had been sponsored by local employers.
The sponsors included Hudsons Fruit and Veg, R&P Meats, Chutney Jack, Town and County, Miko, Peterborough Dairies and Whittlesey Catering Hire.
Sarah Thorpe, curriculum team manager for the catering students, said the event had been a big suc- cess.
She said: “The students did a fantastic job and were very professional.
“We would also like to thank Kevin Wood, and Richard Barry, from Milton Golf Club, for all of their hard work and making this night a great success.
“The students thoroughly enjoyed working with them.”
