AROUND 60 new jobs are set to be created at a new care home in Bourne.

Priory Group, a mental healthcare provider, is bringing its expertise to Lincolnshire for the first time with the opening of Abbey Court, a care home for older people.

The purpose-built nursing home will have beds for 88 residents needing nursing or dementia nursing care. The home will be under the leadership of manager Peter Barlow.

Care will be provided in single, ensuite accommodation and there will be lounges and dining areas and a secure, enclosed landscaped garden.

There will be a specialist dementia unit, including a ‘reminiscence room’ and planned activities for residents, with visits by professionals such as GPs, chiropodists, opticians and even hairdressers.

The building is expected to be complete in mid-July and then the home will go through a registration process with the Care Quality Commission.

A spokeswoman said the facility should be up and running before the end of the year.
