Po­lice name road death man (77)

A CY­CLIST who died af­ter be­ing in­volved in a col­li­sion with a camper van has been named.

Derek Regi­nald Lins­dell, of Ap­s­ley Way, in Longth­orpe, Peter­bor­ough, died on Sun­day, fol­low­ing the col­li­sion on the A47.

The ac­ci­dent hap­pened on the west­bound car­riage­way just be­fore the Cas­tor junc­tion.

The tragedy hap­pened at around 12.30pm, when the 77-year-old, who was rid­ing a sil­ver moun­tain bike, col­lided with a Peu­geot camper van, driven by a 79-year-old man from the Rut­land area.

Po­lice be­lieve Mr Lins­dell may have mis­tak­enly cy­cled in the wrong di­rec­tion down a slip road at the Cas­tor junc­tion.

They also be­lieve that Mr Lins­dell may have been on his way home from Cas­tor.

The driver of the camper van, who was trav­el­ling alone, was not in­jured in the in­ci­dent.

Po­lice are con­tin­u­ing to ap­peal for in­for­ma­tion from any wit­nesses to the col­li­sion, or those who saw the van or the bike on the road be­fore the col­li­sion.
