Woman in critical condition following van collision
A WOMAN is in a critical condition in hospital after her van left the road and collided with a tree.
The collision happened at around 7.20am on May 31 off Thorney Dyke, Thorney, around 400 metres from its junction with Old Knarr Fen Road.
Emergency services rushed to the scene including the air ambulance which was scrambled from its base at RAF Wyton.
Firefighters arrived around 10 minutes later and used hydraulic equipment to release a 38-year-old woman from the Ford Transit Con- nect van.
The woman was provided with critical care at the scene by Dr John Scott and Dan Cody of the emergency medical charity Magpas, before being flown to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
Police said the woman remains in a critical but stable condition at hospital.
A Magpas spokeswoman said: “It is essential that expert medical care is on hand to make sure the patient receives the right treatment at the scene and is transferred to the right hospital.”
