Peaceful school day

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - News Brief -

DRESSED in white, pupils at a city school learned the importance of peace.

Beeches Primary School, in Beech Avenue, held a Day Of Peace where youngsters put money into a wishing well to raise cash for a well in Africa, learned about being kind and ate their lunch in silence.

Deputy headteacher Craig Kendall said: “The pupils began talking about peace as being silent but we were also asking them to be thoughtful and peaceful before they speak because words can hurt. I think they were quite taken about that.

“Our school motto is ‘one school, one world united’ and we were putting this in the bigger picture.”
