Hi-tech safety lesson for pupils
STAYING safe on the internet was the order of the day at a hitech event for pupils.
Thirty-two pupils at Northborough Primary School, in Church Street, Northborough, near Peterborough, took part in the E-ngage programme with help from local PCSOs Louise Waldron and Mick Whittaker.
The youngsters had to answer questions for and received advice from PCSOs through a safe chatroom, with the pupils sat with one laptop in one room and the PCSOs sat in another.
Headteacher Christine Moss said: “It gave the children an insight into how best to deal with difficult issues and to develop a strategy if they are made to feel uncomfortable when using the internet.
“Part of our curriculum is to look at safety that includes looking at e-safety as well as physical safety.
“Pupils said they thought it was brilliant and now feel much more confident and in control while online.
“Parents are pleased that we have done this programme too.”
