Bigger and better Lions Summer Touch League starts next week

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Classifieds -

THE eagerly-awaited Summer Touch Rugby League run by Peterborough Lions gets under way next week and will be bigger and better.

Last year there were 20 teams playing on a Monday night whereas this time there will be four leagues operating over two nights, Mondays (for the seriously competitive) and Wednesdays (more fun but still competitive).

The competition lasts for six weeks with play-offs on Saturday July 17 for the top four clubs in each league.

All matches are held at the Lions ground at Bretton Park and there is still room for teams to enter, especially on a Monday night.

For further information contact academy@peterboroughlion or phone 07785 228665.

Teams already registered include Boro Ladies, Peterborough Welsh, Dy-Nasty Ones and Zeros, Unorganised, Faulty Appliances, The Wild Pandas, TDA Under 15s, Junior Burgers, Not Bad At All, Peterborough Dragons, Peterbor- ough Scarlets, Sawtry Stallions, SICK, PRUFC Cats, Boro Boyz and Hydrocell.

N Class, Road Services, Westwood firsts, Westwood seconds, The Screws, Deeping Ladies, Spalding, St Ives, Rovers, Son of Klunge and Boro Under 15s have also pledged to take part.

TC Tornadoes have pulled out this year but the surviving members are keen to take part. So if there are any ’spare’ players who haven’t got a team but who want to join in, then a Barbarians team for waifs and strays could quickly be formed.

Players are asked to turn up at 6.30pm for a 7pm start on both nights.
