Two medals for City girl at National event
PETERBOROUGH City Rowing Club member Philippa Neill was in excellent form at the National Schools Regatta at the weekend.
Held at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham, the event attracts some of the top rowers in the country and Neill had to be close to her best to claim a bronze medal on Saturday and a silver medal on Sunday.
After an impressive display at the Munich Regatta last month, Neill took the bronze medal in the double sculls with GB partner Beth Astell on Saturday before going one better the following day.
Neill and Astell teamed up with two rowers from St Neots for the coxless fours and took silver after winning a fierce battle with City of Oxford, who they beat by two lengths.
The gold medal went to the Headington School crew containing the top two rowers in the country.
Next weekend Neill will be teaming up with some of the best junior rowers in the country to compete at The Metropolitan Regatta at the Olympic venue Dorney Lake. She will compete in a coxless four and an eight.
