DEEP­ING A slipped from the top of the Peter­bor­ough and District Ten­nis League stand­ings af­ter a shock de­feat at Stam­ford B.

Missing key men John Tim­son, Simon Bent­ley and James West­gate, Deep­ing could only muster three rub­bers at Drift Road to leave the door open for peren­nial Di­vi­sion One cham­pi­ons, Es­porta A.

The city club have won the top flight ti­tle for many, many sea­sons and their 8-1 win against Stam­ford C at Thorpe Wood was enough to send them four points clear and into fa­mil­iar ter­ri­tory.

In Di­vi­sion Two Hampton out­fit, NENS stay top af­ter a 6-3 win at Deep­ing C while Deep­ing B kept up the pres­sure on the lead­ers with a 6-3 win against JB Squad.

Whit­tle­sey A waltzed back to the top of Di­vi­sion Three witth an 8-1 win against Spald­ing B while Deep­ing F’s 8-1 win at Wood­lands against Cas­tor keeps them one point clear of Es­porta C at the top of Di­vi­sion Four.
