JAMES Wesolowski reckons playing for Posh will boost his chances of becoming a full international.

The 22 year-old Australian midfielder moved to Posh from Leicester for an undisclosed fee yesterday. He has signed a two-year contract and immediately set his sights on promotion from League One and an Australian senior cap.

Syndey-born Wesolowski has won youth honours for his country and sat on the bench for a recent full international with Nigeria.

Wesolowksi, who spent last season on loan at Hamilton in the Scottish Premier League, said: “I’m excited about joining many reasons.

“At my first meeting with (manager) Gary Johnson it was obvious we share the same ambitions for the season and I really want to experience the thrill of winning a promotion. I was part of a relegation with Leicester so I want to see some good times now.

“And playing regularly for Peterborough can only help my chances of getting in the Australia team.

“I’ve been in the squad a few times, but not got on the field yet and that’s

LATEST SIGNING: a big ambition of mine.

“I haven’t played in League One, but I’ve seen games at this level and I’m confident I can be a success. I’m a central midfielder really and the manager wants me to be involved all over the pitch.

“My strengths are my commitment as I never give less than 100 per cent and my ability to break up attacks, but this season I also want to score some goals.

“I managed four at Hamilton last season, but I can improve on that.”

Wesolowski has cost Posh a nominal fee only. He joins striker Dave Hibbert, midfielder Grant McCann and right-back Mark Little in joining Posh since Johnson became manager.

And he won’t be the last signing. Johnson confirmed today that the season-long loan of a Premier League player remains on the cards.

POSH have finalised their summer first-team friendly list. Matches at Stevenage (July 27) and Barnet (July 31) have been added to the schedule which starts against Premier League West Ham at London Road on July 14.
