Ladies are urged to race for life

LACE up those train­ers and get ready to pound the streets of Peter­bor­ough - for there are still places left in this year’s Race for Life.

Women in the city are be­ing in­vited to join forces and help beat can­cer with this year’s event.

The 5km event raises hun­dreds of thou­sands of pounds for Can­cer Re­search UK.

So whether peo­ple walk, jog or run, they can join friends, fam­ily and col­leagues and be­come part of the biggest fe­male-only team in the UK.

This year, Race for Life in Peter­bor­ough will take place on June 29 and June 30, at 7.30pm, at Ferry Mead­ows Coun­try Park, off Oun­dle Road in Or­ton Water­ville.

Last year 5,040 women walked, jogged or ran the event which took place for the 13th time in the town and raised an in­cred­i­ble £234,701 over the two evenings. This year, or­gan­is­ers are en­cour­ag­ing 5,100 women to put their best feet for­ward and raise £226,000. Peter­bor­ough par­tic­i­pants will be part of a to­tal of 700,000 women tak­ing part in more than 230 events across the UK be­tween May and July, rais­ing £60 mil­lion.
