Swim­ming ace to be guest at Ram­sey 10k

PARALYMPIC swim­ming star Lau­ren Stead­man will be the guest of hon­our at the Ram­sey 10k on June 13.

Or­gan­is­ers Ram­sey Road Run­ners are try­ing to raise funds to sup­port Stead­man in her run-up to the 2012 Par­a­lympics. Her sis­ter Ellen has been a mem­ber of the club for four years.

Stead­man, a mem­ber of the Bri­tish quar­tet that broke the world 4x100m freestyle record, will run the race and then present the prizes, while Ellen will run the 3k fun run.

Stead­man (right) said: “I am hon­oured and proud to be sup­ported by Ram­sey Road Run­ners, es­pe­cially as it is my sis­ter’s club.

“It will give me great plea­sure to present the tro­phies and to run the event.”

The 10k, part of the Cambs Road League, gets un­der way at 11am with the 3k fun run at 10am.

The race will sup­port the Sue Ry­der Care Thorpe Hall Hospice as well as Stead­man.

Clos­ing date for postal or on­line en­tries is next Wed­nes­day.
