Batt set for Lions
POSH striker Shaun Batt is on the verge of a move into the Championship with Millwall.
The clubs have agreed a fee for the 23 year-old who spent the second half of last season on loan at The New Den. Batt played 70 minutes at Wembley as Millwall beat Swindon in the League One play-off final over the weekend.
Posh manager Gary Johnson said: “Barry Fry has done a deal that I’m very happy with. It’s a good move for Shaun and a good deal for the club.”
Batt is expected to complete the transfer when he returns from holiday later this week. Posh are also hoping to offload unwanted players like Ben Wright, Sergio Torres, Liam Hatch, Exodus Geohaghon, Scott Rendell and Rene Howe before the first-team squad report for pre-season training on July 1.
Johnson added: “I hope the players and their agents are working hard to find themselves another club. I would hope that the players involved want to play on a regular basis, something they won’t be doing with us.”
Geohaghon was again linked with a move to League Two side Crewe yesterday. Posh director of football Fry confirmed he had given Crewe permission to talk to the player, but that he was unaware whether or not any talks had taken place.
