He has scored 25 goals in 60 caps for England and at just 24 years of age, he is on target to beat Bobby Charlton’s record of 49.
His international low point came in the 2006 World Cup when he was sent off in the quarter-final match with Portugal for allegedly stamping on Ricardo Carvalho.
