DODGING the crocodiles, climbing between creepers and spotting giraffes was all in a day’s work for young explorers in their PE class.

St Thomas More Primary School’s hall was transformed into an African jungle for two days last week to celebrate the end of year one pupils’ topic about Africa.

Teachers created an activity course using climbing apparatus, decorated cargo net and blow-up animals in the hall at the school in Park Lane, Eastfield, Peterborough.

They also did activities including African dancing and clay pot making.

Year one teacher, Leonie Dell said: “They absolutely loved it and been really excited about it. We have been studying Africa since Easter and we used our jungle days to celebrate coming to the end of the topic.”
