Drivers – do the crime, pay the fine

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Your -

Speed cameras are great!

I love them and would like to see thousands more of them!

Those pathetic idiots who want to drive like maniacs and feel that it is their God given right to speed are in the same category as binge drinkers.

Seat-belts, breathalysers, mobile phones and speed cameras – what a blessing that we have laws that cover these issues when driving.

people power in Britain is in the silent common sense majority who have suffered for too long with those who only care about what they want and disregard anyone’s views but their own. They are the ones who say “I wanna speed, I wanna drink and I wanna drive” – normally all at once!

By the way, speed cameras will allow a tolerance of 10 per cent above the speed limit plus two miles-an-hour and there are compulsory warning signs well before the cameras, so if you get caught then expect no sympathy because your driving and observation is well below standard and in my view you should be forced to take another test.

Am I a driver? Yes I am with over two and a half million miles of driving behind me, and in all those years no endorsements or fines.

Am I a good driver? I don’t know, but I have always been careful and courteous.

You know what the saying is – “do the crime and pay the fine”, and to me excessive speeding is a crime.

Ask any doctor, nurse, paramedic, police officer, magistrate, priest or undertaker and I’ll bet that they’ll agree! BRIAN GASGOYNE Lincoln Road Peterborough
