Nice to see kids having fun – but what next?

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Your - TONY DALLESSIO

I hAd my usual walk in the city centre today, it was a lovely sunny day and it was nice to see the long awaited fountains operating,

It was also nice to see children having fun and splashing about under the fountains, however, I do not believe that when peterborough City Council first dreamed of this vibrant “piazza” with fountains, it intended that the fountains would be used as “showers” and somewhere to “cool off” on a nice sunny day (although us poor mortals did).

how long will it be before the children are replaced by adults keeping cool?

how long will it be before The Lido begins to suffer (after all,

and start fining people that do?

why pay to go swimming when you can shower and keep cool in the city centre and maybe your partner doing the shopping?).

And most of all, how long will it be before peterborough City Council puts a prohibition order on the use of “showering and keeping cool” under its fountains I ThInk it is a great for kids because when I went there on June 1 and there were loads of kids playing, weaving in and out of the jets, It will also give it a clean fresh feeling the city. It is also nice to watch the jets on a sunny day.

DANIEL WHITE ReGARdS the Cathedral Square fountains. £2.8 million from our council tax could have been better spent. What percentage of my tax has gone on this eyesore that will last one month before it is vandalised?
