Chips help four-legged friends

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - 24 -

AS part of National Microchipping Month pet owners are being encouraged to invest in the most reliable way of finding their pets if they are lost or stolen.

The Kennel Club and the RSPCA are urging people in Peterborough to get their dogs and cats microchipped at Block Fen RSPCA Centre in Wimblington, March.

The quick procedure places a small chip, the size of a grain of rice, underneath the animal’s skin.

The owner’s details and a spe- cial code are stored on the chip and can be revealed by a special scanner which is routinely used by RSPCA inspectors, dog wardens and vets.

The code also links to the PetLog database. For details visit
