Get on your bike to enjoy the countryside
RESIDENTS are being urged to get on their bikes and into the open air as part of the city’s Green Festival.
Peterborough City Council’s Travelchoice team is running the last of its cycling events as part of the PECT organised festival today
Starting outside Sainsbury’s at the Bretton Centre at 6.30pm, this leisurely 13-mile circular route, known as the Nassaburgh Trail, takes in some of western Peterborough’s most scenic countryside and picturesque rural villages including Castor, Ailsworth and Marholm.
The route is predominantly on country roads, but some negotiation of busier roads is required. It is recommended that only confident cyclists take part.
The ride will be led by Sustrans Rangers and Travelchoice staff, with a barbecue and other refreshments planned at Willow Brook Farm which is about half-way.
Free Travelchoice goodies are available for all participants. For catering purposes, if you are interested in joining the ride, e-mail travelchoice@ peterborough.gov.uk. The ride is free but there will be a charge for the barbecue.
