Sign up for singing day

SIGN up to a fun and lively summer singing day led by a talented music group later this month.

Spalding-based group Voiced Unplugged is staging the day on June 26.

Led by singer and acapella arranger Gitika Partington, the day at the South Holland Centre is designed for anyone interested in singing – even those who’ve never sung before.

Voice Unplugged secretary Kate Dickens said: “You don’t need to be able to read music – in fact, there won’t be any to read – or have any kind of singing experience. Whatever your musical ability, you’ll be sure to get something from the day.”

The informal, fun day will start with funky warm-ups then gradually build up some heart and feet warming songs from popular, gospel and world music styles in unaccompanied harmony.

Everything will be taught by Gitika – who directs four non-audition adult choirs in London – by ear.

The day starts at 10.30am, and finishes at 4pm. Tickets are £16 from the South Holland Centre box office (01775 764777).

Voices Unplugged, led by musical director Jane Wells, will be starting its autumn series of workshops on September 25.

Sessions are normally held at the Methodist Church in Broad Street from 2.30 to 4.30pm.
