Live comedy acts from the Lounge

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Cinema -

Three comedy acts at The Sports Lounge TAKE a break from the summer sunshine and head to The Sports Lounge for it’s monthly comedy night on Sunday.

There will be three acts on the bill - Rob Broderick, Joe Wilkinson and Matt Blaize.

One of God’s great shufflers, Joe resembles a tramp that’s been cleaned up a bit and shoved on stage, but beneath the straggly beard lies a very clever comedian.

He tends to spend much of his act apologising for lack of material but it’s clear that he has a routine crammed with brilliantly skewed observations, all delivered with an expert level of dead- Rob Broderick - comedian pan self deprecation.

The Metro newspaper wrote: “A fantastic comedian that always gets the crowd rolling around with laughter.”

One of the most exciting comics on the circuit, Rob Broderick’s explosive energy will illuminate the stage and raise the roof of any venue.

Rob uniquely improvised his way into the final of prestigious comedy award So You Think You Are Funny in 2005 and has been a headline act and MC of note on the comedy circuit ever since.

This friendly, beguiling, quickthinking, maverick can bring even the dullest room to life and have it buzzing and fizzing within seconds of taking to the stage.

Matt Blaize is an experienced comedian and has been performing professionally for nine years. He’s now a regular on The Sports Lounge stage.

The night, at the venue in King Street, runs from 8pm until 10.30pm and admission is just £5. Tickets are available from 01733 688434.

Don’t forget that the venue is the place to watch the football World Cup this year, showing all games live, with some in 3D.

England’s key games will also be shown on a large outdoor screen to create a carnival atmosphere.
