Road was closed af­ter woman hit by car

A WOMAN suf­fered mi­nor in­juries af­ter she was struck by a car in Peter­bor­ough.

The ac­ci­dent took place in Maskew Av­enue, be­tween Bourges Boule­vard and Lin­coln Road, Peter­bor­ough, near the Kwik Fit garage yes­ter­day morn­ing.

Po­lice im­me­di­ately closed the road in New Eng­land both ways at 10am af­ter be­ing alerted by the East Mid­lands Am­bu­lance Ser­vice to the ac­ci­dent.

The fe­male pedes­trian, who is be­lieved to be in her 30s, was treated at the scene of the crash by medics.

She suf­fered an in­jury to her arm and also re­ceived mi­nor cuts af­ter be­ing hit by the ve­hi­cle.

A spokes­woman for East Mid­lands Am­bu­lance Ser­vice con­firmed the woman did not need to be taken to Peter­bor­ough District Hos­pi­tal as her in­juries were only rel­a­tively mi­nor.

She said: “The woman was treated at the scene and then left in the care of a rel­a­tive.”

The driver of the ve­hi­cle was un­in­jured and did not re­quire med­i­cal treat­ment.

Po­lice re-opened the road, which is close to the Triangle junc­tion, to traf­fic soon af­ter­wards.
