Market passes association inspection with flying colours
A FARMERS’ market has passed an inspection with flying colours.
Huntingdon farmers’ market has passed an inspection to remain accredited by the National Farmers’ Retail and Market Association (FARMA).
The FARMA mark assures customers and stallholders of an honest, fair and well managed farmers’ market with all produce being sourced from within a 30-mile radius of the town, going up to 50 miles for products that cannot be sourced more locally.
Every item sold must contain local ingredients.
Huntingdonshire District councillor Colin Hyams, whose executive responsibilities include markets, said: “We are delighted that Huntingdon farmers’ market has retained this accreditation.
“Customers can be assured that the food sold there is from the local area and sold by the people who grew or produced it.”
The market is held every other Friday in Huntingdon Market Square from 8am to 2pm with the next one on June 18
