Mar­ket passes as­so­ci­a­tion in­spec­tion with fly­ing colours

A FARM­ERS’ mar­ket has passed an in­spec­tion with fly­ing colours.

Hunt­ing­don farm­ers’ mar­ket has passed an in­spec­tion to re­main ac­cred­ited by the Na­tional Farm­ers’ Re­tail and Mar­ket As­so­ci­a­tion (FARMA).

The FARMA mark as­sures cus­tomers and stall­hold­ers of an hon­est, fair and well man­aged farm­ers’ mar­ket with all pro­duce be­ing sourced from within a 30-mile ra­dius of the town, go­ing up to 50 miles for prod­ucts that can­not be sourced more lo­cally.

Ev­ery item sold must con­tain lo­cal in­gre­di­ents.

Hunt­ing­don­shire District councillor Colin Hyams, whose ex­ec­u­tive re­spon­si­bil­i­ties in­clude mar­kets, said: “We are de­lighted that Hunt­ing­don farm­ers’ mar­ket has re­tained this ac­cred­i­ta­tion.

“Cus­tomers can be as­sured that the food sold there is from the lo­cal area and sold by the peo­ple who grew or pro­duced it.”

The mar­ket is held ev­ery other Fri­day in Hunt­ing­don Mar­ket Square from 8am to 2pm with the next one on June 18
