Aware­ness cam­paign to tackle drugs

A WEEK-LONG sets of events is planned to try to re­duce drug abuse in the city.

Peter­bor­ough Drugs Harm Re­duc­tion Week – Over­dose is be­ing or­gan­ised by the Safer Peter­bor­ough Part­ner­ship as part of Na­tional Tack­ling Drugs Week start­ing from Mon­day.

Staff from city drugs agen­cies will wear red t-shirts dis­play­ing mes­sages about the dangers of over­dose as well as play­ing DVDs to drug users and their fam­i­lies about dangers of drug abuse, en­cour­ag­ing drug users to ac­cess treat­ment and giv­ing re­sus­ci­ta­tion train­ing.

Karen Kib­ble­white, com­mu­nity safety and sub­stance mis­use man­ager for the Safer Peter­bor­ough Part­ner­ship, said: “By pro­vid­ing harm re­duc­tion mes­sages to drug users we are able to re­duce the im­pact of drug use on the whole com­mu­nity.

“It is fan­tas­tic to see all of our part­ners work­ing to­gether to de­liver these cru­cial mes­sages.”
