AN emergency medical charity whose flying doctors have been saving lives for 40 years is changing its name.

Magpas will now be known as Helimedix 24/7, as it draws up plans to become the nation’s first dedicated 24 hour emergency response service.

As well as re-branding, the charity will be expanding its influence beyond the East of England by offering help to other air ambulance charities across the country.

In 2009, the charity deployed its emergency medical team on the East Anglian Air Ambulance to areas of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough on 369 occasions, often at night, when it is the only air ambulance service available.
