Bor­ough hon­oured at East Mid­lands awards

PETER­BOR­OUGH Rugby Club were once again big re­cip­i­ents at the an­nual East Mid­lands Rugby Foot­ball Union pre­sen­ta­tion of awards.

The event, held at the Old Northamp­to­ni­ans club­house, saw fourth team skip­per Archie Ben­nett step up to re­ceive an East Mid­lands Merit Ta­ble prize on be­half of his team and club chair­man Neil Pret­sell was handed a plaque to mark the club’s heavy in­volve­ment in East Mid­lands rep­re­sen­ta­tive rugby last sea­son.

All clubs who pro­vided play­ers for the East Mid­lands Un­der 20s and se­nior squads were pre­sented with a plaque.

Most had a cou­ple of play­ers, but Bor­ough had a list as long as your arm.

In the 2009/2010 sea­son the Bor­ough play­ers who rep­re­sent- ed East Mid­lands were: Un­der 20 - Matt Dunn , Will Mardling, Will Car­ring­ton, Ben Howard, Saad Sait. Se­niors - James Clarke, Michael Cade, Nico Steenkamp, Ben Crookes, An­drew Dewndey, Paul Humphrey, Will Car­ring­ton, James Allen, Pete Brud­nell and Mar­ius An­dri­jauskas.

Dun­can Low, Paul Cook and Gedis Mar­cisauskas were also se­lected but un­avail­able.

The Bor­ough fourth team, known also as the X-Men, won the Di­rec­tors League for the sec­ond year run­ning and again did so with­out los­ing a game.

The pre­sen­ta­tions were made by the cur­rent RFU pres­i­dent John Owen.
