Borough honoured at East Midlands awards
PETERBOROUGH Rugby Club were once again big recipients at the annual East Midlands Rugby Football Union presentation of awards.
The event, held at the Old Northamptonians clubhouse, saw fourth team skipper Archie Bennett step up to receive an East Midlands Merit Table prize on behalf of his team and club chairman Neil Pretsell was handed a plaque to mark the club’s heavy involvement in East Midlands representative rugby last season.
All clubs who provided players for the East Midlands Under 20s and senior squads were presented with a plaque.
Most had a couple of players, but Borough had a list as long as your arm.
In the 2009/2010 season the Borough players who represent- ed East Midlands were: Under 20 - Matt Dunn , Will Mardling, Will Carrington, Ben Howard, Saad Sait. Seniors - James Clarke, Michael Cade, Nico Steenkamp, Ben Crookes, Andrew Dewndey, Paul Humphrey, Will Carrington, James Allen, Pete Brudnell and Marius Andrijauskas.
Duncan Low, Paul Cook and Gedis Marcisauskas were also selected but unavailable.
The Borough fourth team, known also as the X-Men, won the Directors League for the second year running and again did so without losing a game.
The presentations were made by the current RFU president John Owen.
