House­builder’s fi­nan­cial close on schools pro­gramme

HOUSE­BUILDER and con­struc­tion group Gal­li­ford Try plc has reached fi­nan­cial close as a con­struc­tion part­ner of the Equitix con­sor­tium, which is un­der­tak­ing the Cam­bridgeshire Build­ing Schools for the Fu­ture (BSF) pro­gramme.

Fol­low­ing fi­nan­cial close, Gal­li­ford Try will now un­der­take the £26 mil­lion rede­vel­op­ment of Neale-Wade Com­mu­nity Col­lege in March. It is an­tic­i­pated the sec­ond phase of the pro­gramme, which in­cludes the £19 mil­lion Cromwell Com­mu­nity Col­lege in Chat­teris, will fol­low.

The com­pany will un­der­take 40 per cent of Equitix’s con­struc­tion work in the first phase of the BSF pro­gramme with the po­ten­tial to un­der­take ad­di­tional con­struc­tion work in sub­se­quent phases, which could reach £600 mil­lion over the next 15 to 20 years.

Gal­li­ford Try chief ex­ec­u­tive Greg Fitzger­ald com­mented: “We are de­lighted to reach fi­nan­cial close as a con­struc­tion part­ner on this sig­nif­i­cant ed­u­ca­tion project which un­der­lines our strong mar­ket po­si­tion in the sec­tor.”
