The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - News - By TARA DUNDON

ASPIRING actress Ellie Grayson has her sights set on Broadway after landing a coveted place at one of the world’s leading conservatoires.

The 19-year-old, of Teasles, Deeping St James, near Market deeping, will follow in the footsteps of Hollywood greats Kim Cattrall, Robert Redford and Grace Kelly, when she jets off in September to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (AADA) in New York.

The stars began their acting careers at the academy and the budding actress, singer and dancer is pur- suing her dreams after successfully passing an audition at London’s Prince of Wales Theatre.

And even Ellie’s medium saw in her dreams how she would move to the Big Apple predicting that she would move to America to be an actress.

She said: “I am so excited but also a little nervous. “Acting, singing and dancing has always been my dream. Now that I am moving to New York, my dream has finally come true.

“This academy has taught so many big names including Danny Devito and Adrien Brody and it would be amazing to follow in their footsteps.”

The former Arthur Mellows Village College pupil’s passion for the arts began when she was a fouryear-old tot and loved to entertain her friends and relatives with her sweet voice and ballet.

Ellie’s dream continued throughout school and onto the Brooksby Academy of Performing Arts in Leicestershire, where she got a distinction in musical theatre.

And with experience of working on musicals such as High School Musical at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, working for the National Youth Theatre and acting groups including You Rock and the Polka Dot Academy in Spalding, under her belt, Ellie is ready for the big lights of New York.

She said: “I have worked on musicals a lot now so ideally I would like to work on films such as Pirates Of The Caribbean, Sex And The City or The Lord Of The Rings.

“I will be staying at the New Yorker Hotel during my two-year course and will learn everything from stage-fighting to how to do stage make-up.

“It was my nan, Carol, who suggested I visit a medium but I never imagined what she would tell me, would actually come true a few months later. I never even dreamed of applying for an academy like this one.”

To help her pursue her dreams of becoming the next Kim Cattrall and starring in the next big film to hit cinema screens across the world, Ellie is looking for a local company or organisation who would be able to give her grant to help cover her fees and living costs.
