Farms set to open their gates for free

TWO farms will be open­ing their gates for free for peo­ple to learn more about where their food comes from.

Pi­geons Farm and Park Farm, in Thor­ney, will be hold­ing the Open Farm Sun­day this week­end.

Park Farm is not usu­ally open to the pub­lic, while vis­i­tors to Pi­geons Farm nor­mally have to pay en­try fees of £5.50 adult and £4.50 chil­dren.

Dur­ing the free event, Park Farm will host a va­ri­ety of vin­tage trac­tors, a farm­ers’ mar­ket and give peo­ple the chance to pick their own pota­toes from the fields.

At Pi­geons Farm, vis­i­tors can have a tour around the an­i­mals with Farmer Bob as well as take part in ac­tiv­i­ties dur­ing the day like egg-col­lect­ing and bot­tle-feed­ing the lambs.

They can also watch cows be­ing milked and but­ter-mak­ing demon­stra­tions.
