MK Dons boss stirs up bitter rivalry
MK Dons boss Karl Robinson has fanned the flames ahead of the League One season by claiming he can’t wait to come and win at London Road again.
Robinson, who towards the end of last season claimed Posh would have struggled in League One never mind the Championship, was asked what match he was most looking forward to when the fixtures are released on June 17
Robinson, at 29 the youngest manager in the Football League, replied: “Peterborough away - we can’t wait. I just like going to Peterborough and winning.
“It’s a local derby and one our fans will look forward to.”
MK Dons have become bitter rivals with Posh after the clubs went head to head for the League Two title in the 2007-08 season. Dons won that battle, but were then beaten to promotion in League One by Posh the following season.
Dons suffered an ordinary season last year in League One and the bookmakers are among those who believe Posh will leave them behind again this season.
Posh have shortened from 16-1 to a best-priced 14-1 in the last couple of weeks and they are now fifth favourites for the title behind Southampton, Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton and Huddersfield in most lists.
MK Dons can be backed at 25-1.
The draw for the first round of next season’s Carling Cup will be made on June 16.
