Police themselves were stunned when in the first week the speed cameras on the A1139 Frank Perkins Parkway near the eye Roundabout netted 1,000 vehicles ignoring the reduced but well signed 40mph limit every day.
Not only was it front page news in the evening Telegraph, but made the national papers, too.
yet two weeks on there has been no let-up in the numbers getting caught out by the cameras – there to keep road-workers and motorists safe.
The numbers give this stretch of road an unenviable statistic as one of the most lucrative and notorious speeding hotspots. But if this level of stupidity continues, how long will it be before there is another unenviable statistic involving road deaths.
