Host of city events to celebrate Bike Week
RESIDENTS are being urged to get on their bikes to take advantage of a number of special offers.
As part of National Bike Week, from Saturday, June 19 to Sunday, June 27, Peterborough City Council’s Travelchoice team is running events for cyclists of all ages.
On Sunday, June 20, families are encouraged to ‘Gear up for the Green Wheel’.
Starting at 10.30am, the event is open to everyone, with participants given the option of cycling anything from a few leisurely miles to a tougher 45 mile trip.
People cycling to the Lido, in Bishop’s Road, between Monday, June 2, and Sunday, June 27, who can prove they arrived on bike, will be entitled to free entry.
Free breakfasts are also available to cyclists who stop at the Cornish Pasty Company, in Bridge Street, on Wednesday, June 23, between 7.45am and 9am.
Councillor Samantha Dalton, the city council’s cabinet member for environment capital, said: “Using cycles rather than cars is a great way to travel around Peterborough and is a key way of easily reducing individual carbon footprints.”
