Car ‘exploded’ after being set on fire

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Message Board -

POLICE are hunting an arsonist who set fire to a car only minutes after it had been parked.

An orange Ford Fiesta had been parked at the rear of Wellington Terrace, Wisbech, just 20 minutes before it was set on fire.

Police say the attack happened at about 1.30am on Sunday, June 6.

It is believed that the attacker broke the driver’s side window to set light to the vehicle from the inside.

Detective Constable Mark Yendley, from Wisbech Police Station, said: “As the fire caught hold of the car there were a number of small explosions.

He added: “I hope someone may have seen who committed this arson attack, maybe running from the scene.”

Anyone with information should contact DC Yendley on 0345 456 456 4, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
