Crashes close roads
A DRIVER was airlifted to hospital and two others also injured after two serious crashes in Cambridgeshire.
Emergency services were called to the A1 between Carpenters Lodge and Wittering junctions after receiving reports of a car flipping over the crash barriers at 5.40pm last night.
The driver was cut free from the wreckage by fire crews.
A police spokesman said: “They were airlifted to hospital out of the county and their injuries are non life-threaten- ing.”
One lane of the northbound and the entire southbound carriageway were closed for three hours.
The A47 was also closed for several hours last night between Guyhirn and Wisbech following a four-vehicle pileup at 6.20pm between A1101 Elm High Road and A141 March Road.
The crash involved a lorry, a van and two cars and one casualty was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital and another to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn.
