Free training help for Great Eastern runners

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - News -

RUNNERS who need to get fit in time for the Great Eastern Run (GER) can take advantage of free training sessions to help get into shape.

Peterborough City Council and GER sponsors Advance Performance will stage seven free training sessions at Werrington Sports Centre, in Staniland Way, Peterborough, between July and October.

Held fortnightly at 7pm on Wednesdays, starting from July 14, the sessions will cater for all running abilities even first-time half marathon runners.

Advance Performance will also be hosting training mornings at its store in Fengate, Peterborough, at 10am on July 3 and August 14.

The race does not take place until October 10 but race director Stuart Hamilton thinks runners need to start their preparations now.

He has urged people to take advice from their local running experts who will be organising the sessions.

He said: “This is a great opportunity for anyone who fancies trying a half marathon for the first time to pick up some top advice from running experts.”
