Childminders sing to show benefits of home care
CHILDREN will be providing a musical treat for residents at a care home later this month.
Childminders and children from Wisbech Childminding Group will be holding a music-themed event at Glenfield House Care Home, in Money Bank, Wisbech on June 18.
During the morning, childminders and their children will be regaling the residents of the care home with their songs as well as bringing along musical instruments for them to join in if they want to.
And on June 16, a music workshop will be held for childminders at the Whittlesey Children’s Centre, in New Road, Whittlesey.
The workshop is being held to help teach childminders in the area the benefit that musical activities can have on the children they care for.
The event will run from 9.30am to 11.30am and is open to all childminders in the area.
Kerrie Johnstone, childminding support and development officer with the National Childminding Association, said: “We are looking forward to celebrating just one aspect of what childminders do to help children learn through play.
“The Wisbech childminding group and the children meet next door to Glenfield House and they wanted to give the residents something to enjoy.
“Of course National Childminding Week 2010 is themed around music so we will all be enjoying a good old sing song.”
The mini-concert and musical workshop are being held to promote the importance of childminding and coincides with National Childminders’ Week, which runs from June 12 to June 19.
