Digs offer amazing insight into past

THE

work of people like the now famed Time Team never ceases to amaze.

While it has long been known that the Romans were quite active in and around Peterborough, every new excavation throws up something unexpected and exciting.

This time, the work at St Kyneburgha’s Church offers a fascinating glimpse of life 1,000 years ago.

Thanks to the enthusiasm of the team around what they do, what at first glance appears nothing more than a bit of rubble is transformed into a plush Roman villa with just a little imagination.

A greater understanding of our past can only add to the appeal of the area in which we all live.
