New radio station hits the airwaves
A NEW community radio station is set to hold a celebration event.
The Peterborough Community Radio Project, known as Peterborough FM, has been running since February and has involved more than 100 people in producing exciting local radio programmes for the community.
It started broadcasting on May 29 and will run for a month.
Project manager Dan Cissokho said: “Peterborough FM is so proud of its contribution to the pride of Peterborough by delivering a community radio service, where people are able to learn new skills, meet new people and learn from one another as well as producing and presenting radio programmes.”
It operates on 87.7 FM from The Courtyard Business Centre at 27 Norfolk Street, Peterborough.
The project has been running since February and has so far involved over 100 local people. The project is funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
The celebration will take place on Sunday from noon to 7pm and anyone can pop in. The project has recently run a Young People’s Radio and will continue to involve more volunteers, young people and residents.
