New ra­dio sta­tion hits the air­waves

A NEW com­mu­nity ra­dio sta­tion is set to hold a cel­e­bra­tion event.

The Peter­bor­ough Com­mu­nity Ra­dio Project, known as Peter­bor­ough FM, has been run­ning since Fe­bru­ary and has in­volved more than 100 peo­ple in pro­duc­ing ex­cit­ing lo­cal ra­dio pro­grammes for the com­mu­nity.

It started broad­cast­ing on May 29 and will run for a month.

Project man­ager Dan Cis­sokho said: “Peter­bor­ough FM is so proud of its con­tri­bu­tion to the pride of Peter­bor­ough by de­liv­er­ing a com­mu­nity ra­dio ser­vice, where peo­ple are able to learn new skills, meet new peo­ple and learn from one an­other as well as pro­duc­ing and pre­sent­ing ra­dio pro­grammes.”

It op­er­ates on 87.7 FM from The Court­yard Busi­ness Cen­tre at 27 Nor­folk Street, Peter­bor­ough.

The project has been run­ning since Fe­bru­ary and has so far in­volved over 100 lo­cal peo­ple. The project is funded by the Big Lot­tery Fund.

The cel­e­bra­tion will take place on Sun­day from noon to 7pm and any­one can pop in. The project has re­cently run a Young Peo­ple’s Ra­dio and will con­tinue to in­volve more vol­un­teers, young peo­ple and res­i­dents.
