STREET par­ties have a long his­tory and are a great Bri­tish tra­di­tion.

The cel­e­bra­tory events seem to have started in 1919, fol­low­ing the sign­ing of The Treaty of Ver­sailles at the end of the First World War.

They were held as ‘Peace Teas’ and cen­tred round a spe­cial treat for chil­dren in those times of hard­ship and were quite for­mal sit down af­fairs.

Since then they were held when­ever there was a mo­men­tous na­tional event, for ex­am­ple The Queen’s coro­na­tion cer­e­mony.
