Spain are a steal for glory at 9/2
PLUM’S PUNTS Mark Plummer is on hand to help make you rich during the World Cup - well, that’s the plan anyway!
THERE’LL be no pain in Spain (well apart from in Fernando Torres’ knobbly knee of course).
Despite the Liverpool striker being about as healthy as the average marriage over the next month, vicente del Bosque’s boys will soon be basking in the glory of grabbing the trophy from Italy’s possession across the Med.
The only people who will be crying into their paella are Coral who are offering a best-priced 9/2 on a Spain success.
They can expect their shops to be busier than a Benidorm beach in high-summer with odds like that.
And even if the Spaniards do slip up late on, the 12/5 being offered by Paddy Power for them to be the top European nation looks a steal. There is no-one in their league on this continent.
One other European side who could be set for a good summer are Holland.

I reckon there is one very easy way to boost your bank balance over in South Africa and that’s by having a flutter on Ellis Park (5/1 with Stan James) to be the stadium that sees the most goals.
The Johannesburg arena is famed as a rugby venue, but expect the old onion bag to be bulging on a regular basis for the next few weeks when the stars of world football grace a ground usually reserved for hookers.
It plays host to Spain’s certain slaughter of Honduras in Group H and Brazil’s nailed-on battering of north Korea in Group G. You would normally need Angelina Jolie to go on a date with Iain Dowie to find a mis-match of those proportions.
Throw in Italy v Slovakia and the prospect of staging Spain’s second-round clash and Brazl’s quarter-final and you’ll soon be filling your satchel with money from the lovely bookmaker.
You might even be so flush that dinner with Ms Jolie is on the cards.
Failing that, the missus will definitely get her mits on it!
GENEROUS: David Villa is 8/1 to be top scorer.
