Young­sters get bike tips

YOUNG­STERS across Cam­bridgeshire will be get­ting in the sad­dle as part of na­tional Bike Week.

Chil­dren across the county will be tak­ing part in cy­cling lessons at their schools be­tween June 19 and 27. The younger pupils will learn ba­sic skills off-road, while older pupils will learn how to ride on the road. All chil­dren will be given bike main­te­nance tips on how to keep their cy­cle in top con­di­tion.

Ev­ery year in Cam­bridgeshire over 3,500 pupils re­ceive on road cy­cle train­ing de­liv­ered by a team of vol­un­teer cy­cling in­struc­tors who are trained by the Cam­bridgeshire County Coun­cil.

Ch­eryl Mor­gan, cy­cling ed­u­ca­tion of­fi­cer said: “It is so im­por­tant that chil­dren are given the skills to help them make their jour­neys as safe as pos­si­ble.”
