Children having fun made my day

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Comment -

I would like to reply to Jennifer Mann’s critiscm of the children having a wonderful time in the fountains in Cathedral Square (wednesday’s ET)

I went on Friday with two of my sons, aged four and five, and they had a fantastic time playing with the many children that were there.

It was wonderful to go somewhere that didn’t cost the earth and you could sit and watch the children – just to see the children playing together and laughing on a lovely hot day made my day!

I just didn’t realise that it was against the law for children to strip down to their underwear and have a good time, maybe Jennifer goes round at Christmas shouting bah humbug – what does she have against children having fun? If the elderly really wish to be away from “noisy children” there is a lovely garden down the road that is very quiet. Maybe she should retire there and let our children be children.
