Royal award for youngsters

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - News -

COMMUNITY-spirited young people were handed Duke of Edinburgh certificates to mark their achievements.

Mayor of Peterborough councillor Keith Sharp presented around 20 Jack Hunt School pupils with bronze and silver certificates at a ceremony at Peterborogh Town Hall.

Cllr Sharp said the youngsters should be proud of their efforts, which involve completing cultural and adventure activities, to secure the awards.

He said: “The award scheme helps get the community sprit back into people. It’s something we had lost but the Duke of Edinburgh awards has helped bring this back.

“They have shown not only that they have helped themselves, but also their commitment to the community.”
