Brownies and Rainbows help appeal

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Uk & world Update -

BROWNIES and Rainbows from the Ortons have donated more than 20 shoeboxes of goodies to children at a Bulgarian orphanage.

The youngsters filled the boxes with toys, clothes, toiletries and sweets and presented them to Bernadette and Dougie Leggett, who have been raising funds and appeals for the orphanage, follow- ing their visit while on holiday two years ago.

The couple were struck by how little the youngsters had and on their return home to Winyates, in Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, they decided to make regular trips to see them.

They also collect goods including toiletries, books and games to give to the orphans.

Bernadette said: “We are also looking for knitting wool and needles to knit garments and blankets for the children.

“We are trying to raise funds for a large trampoline for the children and we are never too short of clothing for three to 18-year-olds and necessities like toiletries.”
