He­roes wel­comed at town pa­rade

SOL­DIERS from the 1st Bat­tal­ion The Royal Anglian Reg­i­ment were warmly re­ceived by the pub­lic fol­low­ing a pa­rade in Hunt­ing­don.

Around 2,000 on­look­ers watched from the pave­ments as 100 Royal Anglians pa­raded from Prince’s Street to the Mar­ket Square.

In Mar­ket Square, they were in­spected by Cam­bridgeshire Lord Lieu­tenant Hugh Du­berly.

They were also pre­sented with scrolls giv­ing them the Free­dom of Hunt­ing­don by Mayor of Hunt­ing­don, Cllr Chris Doyle.

The bat­tal­ion re­cently com­pleted a six-month tour of Afghanistan.

They will also pa­rade through Cam­bridge and Ely.
